Clear Auto Complete history
Posted by Kay C. on August 6th, 2003

When I go into internet tools, then to content, then to
Auto Complete in Personal Information to clear forms but
save passwords, it does not clear, but has the hourglass
showing that it is in progress. This goes on and on, for
an hour last time, then still going. I have to Ctrl- Alt-
Delete to exit it because it freezes all windows that are
open.

I just updated to IE 6. I used this Remove previous
entries but leave passwords, alot when I had the IE 5.5. I
did the clean up disk and it did not help. Would I have to
uninstall Windows ME and reinstall it to get the IE 5.5
back?? I tried downloading the 5.5, but says I have a
newer version and 5.5 cannot be installed.
Thanks for your help.

"Kay C" <kdiddle@wf.net> had the fingers to type in message

You can go back to 5.5 by using Add/Remove Programs. However, I doubt
that's necessary.

Maybe what you should do is repair Internet Explorer. Here's how:

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
3. Scroll down the list and click "Microsoft Internet Explorer # and
Internet Tools".
4. Click Add/Remove.
5. Click in the white circle next to Repair Internet Explorer. Click OK.
6. Click Yes.
7. That window lasts about 15 seconds or so. When it's done, it will ask
you to reboot. Save any unsaved documents you may have open and click
Yes.

That didn't work either...What do I have to do to get IE
5.5 back?
That didn't work either...What do I have to do to get IE
5.5 back if I cannot get this to work? It could be that
some of the system settings were changed. Should I email
you about that at http://home.earthlink.net/~montybarker?
Thanks again Monty.
