Control Panel Error
Posted by MC on January 22nd, 2004

When trying to access the control panel, an error
stating, " Windows cannot access the specifies device,
path, or file. You may not have the appropriate
permissions to access the item" appears.

Any information on how to resolve this problem would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks, MC

Does your administrator have a group policy limiting your access to control
panel?

Run "control.exe" (no quotes) from your Run > Dialog Box.
If no joy, run "Hijack This" - info and download here:

No, it was working fine until a couple of days ago.

I've done everything that laid out by Hijack This and I
still have no luck. Any other ideas? Thanks for your
help.

Please post the URL of the Forum where you posted your
Hijack This logs for analysis....
If you did not - do so, run Hijack This, again, with the instructions
at the URL that Joan Archer posted, *read* the Hijack This How-To
instructions and proceed to the referenced Forum Boards for log Expert
analysis.

Based on the timeline of the threads,
it seems humanly impossible that you or anyone else where able
to accomplish a Hijack This scan, log post and analysis finding
in such a short period.
