At times these end task keys fail to function....any ideas

The most obvious and probable cause would be your keyboard......when was the
last time you held it upside down, shook it, tapped on the bottom and
sprayed some 'canned air' into the keys? You would be amazed at what can
fall out of an unkempt keyboard. Even with good housekeeping, you may still
have a faulty key. Give the following a few tries and see if you can cause
one to fail:
C-A-D not working:

Check and see if TaskManager is loading. (this would be for CAD not working
at all)
START/Run/msconfig
Check in the Startup tab.

Check your keyboard:
1. Highlight something in this post, and press Ctrl+Insert to copy.
Open Notepad, and press Shift+Insert to paste.
Did it paste?
2. If it worked, then highlight what you just pasted into Notepad and press
the Delete
key under the Insert key.
Did it delete?
3. Press Alt+F4 to close Notepad.
Did it close?
If any one of these steps failed, then you have a bad keyboard.

Heirloom, old and keyboards are cheap

Sometimes you must press the end task button up to three
or four times before a second box will pop up with a
second end task button. Just reopen the task manager and
click on the application and click end task until it
finally goes away.

End task will fail if the application can't be unwound appropriately or if
its locked in a thread waiting for an event (like a dialog to pop up). A
good workaround with the benefit of a better view of the
applications/processes/threads running on your system would be to install
Process Explorer from www.sysinternals.com.

I wouldn't even consider running ME without PE installed.

I have to agree with you Salt.......I am a firm believer in Process Explorer
and the price is right!!! I guess I am the only one that concluded the OP
was having problems with C-A-D bringing up the End Task window, as opposed
to the end task function. Unless we hear back from Altona, we may never
know.....
