After clicking on Start, then selecting Shut Down.., then
selecting Shut Down again, I get a blue screen with the
following Error:OE:0028:C0030BAB - At this point the
computer is frozen and I must hold down the on button for
5 seconds to shut off the unit.

Any ideas about what is going on?

If I hold down the enter key for a few seconds it shuts on
down, and the scan disk does not start when i reboot. I
believe that this is a big problem with windows me. Wish I
knew how to help you, but just try holding down the enter
key so that the computer will still shut down correctly
without losing any information.
