ERROR MESSAGE: UNHANDLED EXCEPTION how to fix??
Posted by Joe on July 14th, 2003

I keep getting an unhandled exception error after startup
with the following info:

Unhandled Exception: c0000005
At Address: 100016b8

Then after I hit ok this pops up:

Pgmonitr

Pgmonitr has caused an error in PGSDK.DLL
Pgmonitr will now close.

If you continue to experience problems,
try restarting your computer.

I restarted the computer but nothing helped. Please let
me know what to do to fix this error. Thanks.

The error message means that you've got spyware installed on your PC and
would
probably benefit from running either or both of AdAware and/or SpyBot.

PGSDK.DLL
You probably have Promulgate spyware installed on your system as a
result of
installing a P2P file sharing program. Have you got the Delfin Media
Player
from http://www.delfinproject.com on your system? This is spyware often
associated with installing Kazaa and is often implicated in the error
messages
you are seeing. If present I would suggest you dump Delfin Media
Player.

Since you have one such unwelcome guest on your PC I would recommend you
download yourself a copy of the free Ad-Aware 6.0 from Lavasoft
(http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/) and also SpyBot
(http://security.kolla.de/) and scan your system for and remove any
unwanted
parasites, adware, spyware, foistware and any other junk that might be
hiding
on your PC.
