Hi,
I have a Dell laptop running ME. At some point the
hibernate feature has dissapeared. It doesn't come up as
an option on the shutdown menu, there is no Hibernate tab
on the Power Options Properties menu. Can I get it back
without reinstalling ME?
Any help appreciated.

He said there isn't a Hibernate tab. That usually means that it's not
supported ... which indicates that it might be disabled in the BIOS. If it
*is* enabled, I'd disable it, reboot into Windows, reboot again and go back
to the BIOS and enable it, and see if this resets it so Windows knows the
motherboard supports this option.

Hi, thanks for the feedback, I have looked in the BIOS
Setup and there is no reference to hibernation on any page.
Hibernation has worked on this laptop in the past. i heard
somewhere that Windows disables hibernation support if
there have been problems starting from hibernation, is
there any truth in this? I have other Dell laptops that
hibernate fine.
Thanks again for any help.

Matt,
There are six common types of hibernation, sleep, suspend, or stand-by ...
sometimes called S0-S5. Which works well or is available at all on your
system will depend on a few factors, possibly including settings in your
BIOS or SetUP ... or in the Power Options of the Control Panel.
Maybe Dell can help you. Windows does ask if you want to disable hibernation
if it hangs, but you can reverse that in the Control Panel. Usually if the
hibernation tab is missing, it means the system does not recognize it as
supported by the BIOS.
