i noticed that there's an INDEX.DAT file that seems to be
containing info that i can not delete. the size of the
file continues to increase, even though i delete all of
the temporary internet files, history, temp files, etc...
how do i delete INDEX.DAT content to help save space ? thx

Download a little java app from http://www2.whidbey.net/djdenham/Tweekz.htm
called < iecache2.js >. Go to the above URL and scroll down until you see
it.
The index.dat cannot be deleted while Windows is running, so, this little
script can take care of it during boot. You can $buy$ some aftermarket
programs that will do the same thing, but, this little app works like a
champ and it is freeware.

P.S. If you want to see what is in the index.dat, you can use another
little freebie called Filealyzer available from
http://www.safer-networking.org/inde...age=filealyzer . It is a great
little hex reader, check it out. You can even go into the .exe files of
your favorite games and change your high scores, if you know where to look

There's an application, Index.dat Suite, that allows you to view and delete
index.dat files. I've not tried it yet, so I'm not certain how effective it
is. If you're interested, here's the link:
