- long filenames being converted to short filenames
- Posted by Steve Russell on August 26th, 2003
A friend of mine asked for my help in figuring out a
problem he is having. He has a large directory (fat32)
that he uses to store images. After some period of time
(not sure how long) the file names are being converted to
short filenames. I have never seen anything like it. He
will rename an image to whatever (long filename) and go
back to look for it in a couple of weeks and cannot find
it because it has been converted to the short filename
version. These will be mixed in the directory with other
long filenames, which may or may not at some point in
time convert to short. Anyone ever see this problem?
Thanks!
