This machine frequently hangs at boot time - it's an HP
Pavillion(384MB RAM), which came with ME pre-installed.
You get your desktop background picture appear and then
the machine gies no further. If you press Ctrl-Alt-Del,
the only process running is cmdninst, which is meant to
discover new hardware. After a few attempts the machine
will reboot successfully. It seems to be have the same
whether cold or warm booting.
The machine has Norton AntiVirus and Zone Alarm installed,
and I have run Norton WinDoctor on it to ensure everything
references everything else correctly and the registry is
OK.
