I've never understood why the taskbar is at the bottom by default when
applicatoins invariably have their menu facilities at the top (hence the
phrase 'drop down :-) ). Consequently I have the taskbar at the top, set
to 'Always on Top' and 'Auto Hide'.
All my disks and most used applications and folders have shortcut icons
in the taskbar instead of the desktop. I hardly have to use the Start
menu or desktop (which is hidden by applications 99.9% of the time) at all.
