Msgsrv32.exe [not responding]
Posted by defact0 on January 12th, 2004

windows will freeze while programs are loading. Sometimes
it will just be slow and make you think it has frozen, but
programs still load. This causes games to crash and
programs to work right or at all.
ctrl+alt+del produces msgsrv32.exe [not responding]
end tasking it just makes the system work, but sound is
missing or slow loading times, etc. I know this is how
windows communicates with other programs and etc, but
is there a way to fix this? Is this a software problem or
a hardware problem?

When did this problem start? What changes did you make to your system
(hardware, drivers or application) just prior to this problem developing?
Have you tried using System Restore to roll back to before the problem
began
if it is only in the last day or two?

Look at hardware, especially drivers. When you see that msgsrv32 is not
responding this is normally due to it waiting for a driver that has
possibly
crashed, msgsrv32 is simply waiting for a reply that isn't forthcoming.
Msgsrv32 is the just messenger, the problem nearly always lies elsewhere.

The computer is a gateway that came with a cd burner which
dones't work at all. Somehow in time it decided to rebel
and not open. This computer was a hand me down from a
relative who claimed the cd burner did work. but I started
encountering these problems when I got the computer and I
took the burner out thinking it might help the situation.
Could this be the problem?
