- "Not enough memory..." 384k?
- Posted by Ed on July 15th, 2003
Using PIII 750. Yesterday, I had a new 256k chip installed by a tech,
increasing my RAM from 128 to 384. Now, all of a sudden, I'm getting "not
enough memory to perform that task" error messages with virtually nothing
but the Word and the web browser open. Before the new 256k of RAM, I was
easily operating with Word97, Excel97, IE 5.0, Outlook98 and a budgeting
app, open simultaneously. Does anyone know what he may have changed that
would cause the memory resources to be gobbled up so quickly?
Thanks.

Your Word problem is often caused by a damaged or corrupt normal.dot template.
Look for the file normal.dot which is the default Word template file and
either rename or delete it and then try using Word again.
For more details of this suggested fix see MS KB 307814 - "WD: Error Message:
System Is Dangerously Low on Resources"
