- Out of memory
- Posted by David Martin on March 7th, 2004
I rcently received an "out of Memory" message after
instaling more ram (from 512 to 768) in my computer, using
Windows ME. I tracked down the MS Knowledge database
article 253912, which indicates that I needed to adjust
the config (advance) to show a max of 512 memory. Now the
machine runs fine, but it is not using the additional 256
meg of ram. Any wy to get Windows to see and use the
additional ram, or 512 the max under Windows ME?

Which tweak did you use
What you say leads me to think that you used the wrong one (limiting the
visible RAM, rather than just the Cache file)
Undo what you did, and then add the following line to the [vcache] section
of the System.ini file
MaxFileCache=512000
DO NOT use any other parameters there, or elsewhere.
post back with your findings
