- Pop-up windows
- Posted by Mark on July 12th, 2003
I am getting so tired of all these pop-up windows
advertising everything from mortgage loans to travel to
ebay. I complained to my bank about it happening
frequently while on their site. They told me that they do
not use this type of advertising and that it was probably
the result of a third party program running in the
background or on a tool bar.
Can somebody please tell me how to determine where they
are coming from and how to get rid of them? I now make it
a standard practice NOT to use any company or product that
advertises in this manner. I don't care how much I might
need it.
HELP!

You have a good practice in place. Never do business with a firm that uses such
shoddy tactics to draw your attention. Now for the problem. Your system has
probably become loaded with various forms of malware/spyware and I would
recommend that you download and run one of the following applications. Please
be sure to check for updates on the first use of either.
