- Problems with Windows ME updates?
- Posted by Suze on August 18th, 2003
I know there's a few of you out there....I think I found
out what was causing my problem (updates not
installing)....do you have the loadqm box in your Startup
menu disabled? Because this is apparently related to the
way Windows Update works.
I'd stopped mine from loading at Startup, but when I
loaded it & tried the updates again - they installed!!
Hope this helps someone!

Um.....I'm afraid I lied. They didn't install. The
installation history on the Windows Update page just SAYS
they've installed. The Update checker thing says I still
need them.

So when are you going to get rid of AOL and have a real Internet experience?

FYI, Suze, QM just collects error reports and sends them to M$ if it works
correctly...mostly it slows the machine down. I always disable it on a new
box.

While agreeing with Cody totally regarding AOL, please note that you
shouldn't be doing *anything* while downloading/installing from Windows
Update. Go have a cup of tea or something!

You should also turn off your firewall and AV file check.
