Koldbear -- I posted earlier (down on page 3 by now) about
help needed from computer professional.
You seem to know where to find answers and maybe you can
get this mess.
In general, when trying to use "Freedom" antivirus to
remove Sircam, I followed the instructions carefully and
apparently they told me to delete an important part of my
Windows operating system.
I can no longer access Outlook Express or Word or many
other programs; a double click gets nothing; no error
message, nothing. The programs are still there and can be
*partially* used by entering through old saved files.
I can no longer access my Control Panel; there is an error
message saying I may not have permission (there should be
no locked files, home computer).
I cannot install a Windows update; the computer cannot
find a program to open InstMsiA.exe
The Quickrestore requires a user backup before rebooting.
The user backup, tried several times, gets to 93% and then
gives error message 1805, error writing to disc.
Can you tell me what got deleted and how to get it back?

You best bet is to take your computer to a local tech.
With his help, you may be able to save you data.
But I think you are looking at a complete clean reinstall.

Try the demo program from www.recovermyfiles.com. You will be able to tell
if you can recover your files.
good luck
