- sound

the sound on my lap top has gone. I am using ME and when I
go to to Settings and sounds the option to display volume
icon on my taskbar is greyed out as is the option to
increase the volume. I seem to have a sound card installed
as I found a carddrv on a search.
Anyone know what can be done?

Your sound card may have died. Check the software driver first. Go to Device
Manager and delete the sound card driver. Reboot and let Windows reinstall
the driver. Have your sound card driver disk handy.
