- starting in ms dos
- Posted by Scott on January 17th, 2004
I've tried just about everything I can think of. I need a
way to start up the computer in MS DOS I need to format my
hard drive. I've tried the help topics in windows
(pressing F8 while the compuer boots up) but its not
working I've tried to uninstall windows from the command
prompt but it tells me that a setup log file is missing.
I've tried from "My Computer" by highlighting the C:
drive, clicking on "File" then "Format" but it comes back
with the message that windows is running and aborts the
format. I need help and i want to try doing this myself
if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Boot up with a bootup disk. If you don't have one, get one from
www.bootdisk.com Get the Windows ME OEM version. Make sure your Bios to
read your floppy driver first.
