- system crashes when I try to start an application
- Posted by Maha on March 6th, 2004
I have a probelm with my system Windows Mellenium. Every
time I try to start word it crashes and I can't do
anything on my desktop. I received several error messages
that there's no enough memory to run the program try to
shut one of the running programs. I think I have
sufficient memory, however, I don't know how to view the
currently running programs in Wndows Me. I try to open
taskman.exe and it gives a blank window!
Also one of the eroor messages I received "kernel32 has
caused an error in USER.EXE!!!
Thanks

Maha
This is an unfortunately common problem, caused usually by a corrupt master
template file
Do a Search for files called 'Normal.dot' (without the quotes) and
rename/delete all found.
reboot, and try Word again.
See if that helps.
