- system performance

i noticed that my system performance was at 41% - i'm told
it should be above 80 %. i was also told that i needed to
delete some of the stuff from my "end task" window, which
would help speed up my pc as well. i have 17 items listed
in my end task window. which of those items can i delete
without messing up my pc ? or maybe a better way to ask -
is what should i leave running in that window ? thx !
