To the other Tony my mate says he's got IE version 5.50.4134 I'll also tell
him about the patch for system restore.

Good that he didn't install on top of IE 6. That causes problems. Hope the
patch fixes things.

Tony can you upgrade to IE6 ontop of IE5.5 or does IE5.5 need to be removed
first. He is also having problems with web pages not being displayed despite
connectiing ok. So would an upgrade to IE6 help ?

You can upgrade ... and that's best. At this time, to reinstall WinMe on top
of itself, you should remove IE6 ... and you can only do that if you have a
version to go back to. You can't really (easily) remove IE, but you can
revert to a previous version. So, the upgrade is the way to go. Then if you
need to, you can revert back to IE5.5.
