- Unable to use Norton Anti-virus
- Posted by Steve on March 7th, 2004
I have Norton anti-virus installed on my pc and about 3
days ago started having problems. I am unable to run the
virus, if I try to open the thing it will only give me an
error that says <nmain has caused an error with NMAIN.EXE
if you continue to have problems restart your computer>.
Resarting and totally rebooting pc does not help. I tried
to uninstall the program so I could install it again and
it won't let me uninstall because it says it can't find
the file on my drive. Can anyone help with this issue?
Thanks in advance for any responses.

It's a distinct possibility that you have been infected with one of the
newer viruses -
download the Stinger from here and run it to make sure that A-V-disabling
viruses are not present on your PC
http://download.nai.com/products/mca...rt/stinger.exe
once you've done that, see if there's any improvement - if not you may need
to reinstall NAV.
