Updating Adaware6.0
Posted by Jim Lombard on February 25th, 2004

Do I remove, uninstall my existing Adaware version 6.0
before updating to the newer version?
Or do I just download the newer version over my existing
6.0 version?Any help appreciated.Running Me O/S.

Just update it from within the program itself......no need to download from
the website......or uninstall anything.

Wrong Heather! Adaware version 6.0 Free version you cannot
update to build 1.8.1!1.8.1. is for build 1.8.1 only, no
previous versions. Useing Webupdate in Adaware free
program version 6.0.U can only update with a paid
licienced version of the older 6.0.
Get back to me with my first question again if you will.
Tnx, Jim

Hi Jim,
Fully uninstall your old version prior to installing build [6.181]
Via Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.
New version available here: http://www.lavasoftusa.com

OK......It's late and I goofed.......but yes, remove the old one as Silj
says. THEN update from within the program. I am using the Free Version as
well.....no point in paying for it as it does a good job. I have had build
1.8.1 on here for so long that I forgot about updating it......even tho it
says in the About, that you can.

Sorry.....Heather

Hi Jim,

"HTH" is a shortie for 'Hope this helps', Jim :-)
You "can" use unwise but you're not supposed to know that...
If you so choose to use unwise, select *All* items in each of the
windows as you fully delete the application.
(Note that this is not the usual uninstall method but that's the actual
uninstaller).

Reboot and make sure that all the bits are gone from the Programs
Files folder.

Install fresh copy, reboot and go get your new Reference Files.
