- upgrade to xp
- Posted by alex on January 13th, 2004
Hi I just bought a new computer which came with windows
XP. I have an older computer that has ME. I find that a
lot of the new software and hardware is not compatible
with windows ME (printers, SAS...) can I upgrade my old
computer using the disks that came with my new computer?
Is that legal?

No.
One copy of the OS to one computer the same as it has always been and if
your XP came preinstalled on your new machine it is likely OEM and is tied
to the one it came on and cannot be moved even if that machine dies.
Sorry.
