Am unable to complete a Windows update. Have tried
numerous times but installation keeps failing. Any ideas?

Are you attempting to do the updating with the AOL browser ? If that is
the case the updates may never install :
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/
Under : Problem Downloading/Installing a Software (Non-Driver) item
See : Install stops at 0% when using the AOL Browser
" After signing on to AOL click the Start button then click the Windows
Update Icon. This will start Windows Update using the version of
Internet Explorer that comes with the operating system. "
IF this is not the case advise you to temporarily disable your antivirus
program if you're using Norton, McAfee, or PC-cillin prior to accessing
Windows Update. Also temp disable the script blocking component.
Reenable it after the installation and any required rebooting.
