I am re building an older PC and have put ME on it.
Everything is fine except when I try to run Windows
Update, the computer freezes.

Any suggestions on correcting this problem?

Go directly the Windows Update site
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

Clear your cache. Delete all temporary internet files and cookies. Make
sure your system time and date is correct.
