WJVIEW ERROR
Posted by Selkie on March 7th, 2004

I don't know how to get rid of this WJVIEW ERROR ("ERROR:
unable to locate system class: java/lang/object"). Nor
does anyone else seem to know--not even MS, unless you pay
them for the answer(???)and/or be subjected to some sort
of convoluted, anal procedure while trying to find
solutions or elicit any kind of response. Does MS even
have an customer service dept. that we can actually
contact?
I also have Windows ME and probably should have XP. ??? (A
teacher told me that ME is crap. So why do so many of us
still have it? For that matter, why do we still have PCs?)
I've looked over posts for the past month and I haven't
seen many, if any, answers/solutions/replies to anyone's
problems. I think my next purchase will be a MAC.

When did you last check your system for viruses, worms and trojans using your
preferred anti virus application equipped with a current and updated set of
viral signatures? Also have you checked your system for parasites and other
malware much of which can cause significant problems when running your system?
Do you use a firewall to prevent unwanted outside intrusion onto your system?

I'd be suspicious since there is no good reason why wjview should be running
when you boot your PC. I would suspect that this might be caused by an
attempt to load an unwanted nasty or some sort such as a virus, trojan or
parasite. That you get the error suggests to me that you may have already
scanned your system for such nasties and removed the offending program but
left the entry in the startup axis that is attempting to load this script each
time you boot. Have a look at what you have being launched each time you boot
your system. Do this using MSConfig, (Start, Run, enter MSConfig in the box
and click OK), look at the entries on the startup tab. Is there any reference
there to wjview or a java script? If so uncheck it, reboot your PC and then
give it a thorough check using your preferred anti-virus application (with an
updated set of AV reference signatures).

If you have not already done so I would recommend you download yourself a copy
of the free Ad-Aware from Lavasoft
(http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/) and also SpyBot S & D
(http://www.safer-networking.org/) and scan your system for and remove any
unwanted parasites, adware, spyware, foistware and any other junk that might
be hiding on your PC.

As for Win Me being "crap", I suggest you seek out a teacher with knowledge
and experience rather than one who listens to idle gossip. As for not seeing
replies to problems, may I suggest you may need to see an optician/optometrist
<g> as the vast majority of posts in this and other newsgroups receive replies
with answers to the users' problems.

You need to scan your system for parasites :
Do You Have Parasites ?

If you find that you do download and install AdAware:
http://lavasoftusa.com

Open AdAware ... Read the Help file to configure it to best scan your
system. Click on the globe icon to download and install the latest
definition files. Then scan your system . You may or may not be told
that some files were in use and AdAware needs the system rebooted and
will run on startup ... if this is not the case advise you to reboot the
system and run AdAware again.

Info on parasites and how to prevent them can be found here :
