about installing Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
Posted by jakerabbit on October 5th, 2005

few days ago I got Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 OEM from
Tigerdirect.com and today I finished building my computer. so my computer is
totally empty. so I try to install the OS. I put CD Disk 1 in it and turned
computer on. and the Windows Setup started. and the setup started to load
files for the devices (ex. Setup is loading file (IDE Component)). and it
finished. so it said "Setup is starting windows". untill here is fine! but
after the message poped up, the blue screen poped up! and the screen said
"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent
damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your
computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in
the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for
driver updates. Try changing video adapters.

Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory
options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove
or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced
Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

Technical information:
*** STOP: 0x0000007E (0xc0000005, 0x6105AB7E, 0xF78D2304, 0xF78D2000)"

I don't know what I gotta do cuz I even didn't install windows yet. and it
says startup with safe mode? my hard drive is totally empty! when I installed
windows ME the Setup format the hard drive first to make Section for windows.
but this doesn't. I have no idea what I gotta do. the built computer is
working fine and when I looked at BIOS the hard drive was recognized. so I
need help to install this OS. thx so much and have a nice day

Check to see that there is no errors with your memory. Typically, this
error is thrown when there is some issue with your hardware, with memory
being one of the leading causes.

Use memtest+ to thoroughly test your memory.
http://www.memtest.org/

If this issue occurs after the first restart during Windows Setup, or after
Setup is complete, the computer BIOS may be incompatible with Windows. In
this case, get the latest bios update from your motherboard manufacturer.
