- Audio Video out of sync in Vista Media Center Live TV
- Posted by Anders on January 3rd, 2008
I'm experiencing Picture/Audio sync problems in Vista Media Center when
watching Live TV. When starting the application Picture/Audio are in sync
but as time pass it gradually gets worse and after a while the lag is
several seconds. Videos plays well. I've tried different decoders.
Specs:
Intel Core Duo 2,67GHz
Nvidia 8800GTS
Pinnacle PCTV tuner for Vista

The error you are seeing is typically fixed by updating your tv tuner
drivers.
Try updating those to see if it helps.

Thanks Jason,
could be a driver issue absolutely, the dilemma is that I'm using the latest
drivers for both my Graphics Card as well as my tuner. I used the same tuner
(Pinnacle PCTV tuner for Vista) without any problems in my previous PC with
a nVidia 6800GT, since I've upgraded to PC with a 8800GTS the sync problem
appeared.

Is the sync correct for recorded TV?
Is it correct if you play a DVD in MC?
Was the previous system also running Vista?

Hi,
yes recorded TV yields the same result. Stopping Live TV and restarting
temporarily gets it in sync, but after a while it deteriorates again.
No problems with Audio when watching DVD or Video.
My Gigabyte P35 MB has integrated audio but I have tried with a separate
SoundBlaster card as well with the same result.

Update:
It appears it was a BIOS issue, after upgrading my Gigabyte P35 to the
latest BIOS (F11), Audio and Video are in sync again.
Computers work in mysterious ways..
JW and Jason, thanks for your interest in my problem.
Best regards,
Anders
