- Burning DVD's with Media Center
- Posted by Jim on October 17th, 2005
When I try to burn a DVD using Media Center (recorded TV or whatever), the
option to choose the format - Data DVD, Video DVD, or DVD slide show - never
comes up. When I choose create CD/DVD, it goes straight to "Name this DVD"
I can record the file to a disc, but it records as a Media Plater fule & I
can't play it on a home DVD player. How can I fix this?

You need the Sonic DVD Encoders. They should have been provided by whoever built your system.

To do this requires SonicEncoders.msi, which seems to only come on pre-built
MCE systems. Sonic doesn't sell it to the average end user, although
apparently it can be found online.

You can burn standard DVDs from MCE by purchasing Sonic PrimeTime (a DVD
burning plug-in for MCE)... BUT, PrimeTime does not currently support
Dual-Layer.
For more info on PrimeTime, check the Sonic web site (sonic.com)

You are missing the sonicendocers.msi file. Do a google seach on the file
name and keep looking you will find a downloadable file out there .

HighMAT update on windows update does not equal the sonic encoders.
They are completely different items that aren't related to each other.

HighMAT and Sonic have absolutely *NOTHING* to do with each other.
HighMAT is from Microsoft.
Sonic Encoders are from Roxio.
