I cannot install this: Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version
1.1 Service Pack 1 (KB886903). I always get an installation failure. Its a
new computer running Windows XP Media Center 2005 edition. I cant open
programs such as MSN Messenger. Any idea what to do?

I didn't apply line 5 why?
Couldn't install Run dotnet.exe for a fresh new .net install.
Without line 5 all went well
copy of line 5:
5. Go to the start menu, then run. Type in "msconfig" and set it to
Diagnostic and then reboot to prevent other software from getting in the way
of the install.
