- cannot uninstall KB904706 in order to install rollup 2`

I get 0x643 "setup failed" trying to install rollup 2.
MS says to uninstall KB904706, but in Add/Remove Programs it says I cannot
remove it, and there is no remove button.
I cannot get Media Player 11 without rollup 2.
How do I fix this mess?
