Can't see a shared printer
Posted by Denny Sharpe on November 11th, 2005

New XP Home system has a shared printer. Neither of the other 2 computers,
both with XP, can see the shared printer. The computer with the shared
printer only sees itself and one of the other 2 computers. Sharing is
installed and I have done this a hundred times without a problem. The 2 new
computers came from Dell and one of them has the shared printer. Please
point me somewhere. Thanks.

Make sure all three of the computers have the File and Print Sharing
firewall exception enabled (via Windows Firewall)
..
If you have any other firewall application running, you'll also need to
configure it to allow file and print sharing.

Are they all in the same Workgroup? Is File and Printer sharing enabled in
all PCs - especially in the firewall?

Yes, workgroup MSHOME. Maybe sharing is not yet enabled in the firewall. I
am on my way there in 5 minutes. I will check your pointers. Thank you Cari.
