- Changing Video Sources in Vista Media Center
- Posted by blocey on January 3rd, 2008
I have an ATI 650 tv tuner card with audio and video inputs. The card works
fine using media center when watching tv through the cable tv coax input, but
how do you switch video/audio sources when connecting a
playstation/ipod/camcorder to the other inputs so that it shows up on your
monitor? I can only get tv to show, not video from my ipod or game system.

Media Center is not designed to be able to switch inputs.

You would need to rerun the setup.
But you wouldn't want to do that anyway, the buffer delay would make game
play near impossible.

Uhm, I personally think that Media Center _should_ be able to quickly/easily
switch inputs on any supported capture card. Media Center is being
positioned by Microsoft as the center of the home entertainment universe, so
users should be able to watch/record TV from their capture card, then easily
change inputs to S-video & audio L-R or similar to watch/capture videos from,
say a legacy 8mm video camera without blowing away the entire cable or
satellite receiver STB configuration via the TV setup wizard -- that's just
anti-social coding.

It should. It doesn't.
