- Directv D11 remote problems...HELP!!!
- Posted by Tingbro on March 27th, 2006
I have the new Directv D11 box and positioned the IR blaster over the IR
receiver. Everything is plugged in correctly. None of the 28 codes work and
the media center will not recognize any buttons when I try to learn the
remote (tried w/ and w/o "enter button" option, 3 digit/4 digit option).
When I tried to learn and press "0" button as requested, the computer does
not recognize the remote. I also tried moving the IR blaster around to see
if it's sensitive to placement but no luck.
I've been on this for two hours and have given up. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Can anyone reply to my post? I just tried out another IR receiver and IR bug
and media center will not learn any commands on the directv remote. The IR
bugs do work b/c I see them light up when I tried to enter in the 28
different codes.
I've read other posts on this forum and some people have been able to learn
the commands. That's all I want to be able to do at this point since people
have said the 28 codes don't work.
Thanksk

I just subscribed to DirecTV and received the D11 Satellite Receiver today.
I'm having the same problems as you are with the Media Center not changing
the channels or anything on the receiver. I've tried letting the Media
Center determine the remote, I've tried the 28 codes, I've tired 3 and 4
digit channel numbers; nothing works. Is there something that we can do to
fix this? Is there an update somewhere that will add this receiver or
something? I'm now "stuck" as I've signed a 1 year contract with DirecTV and
cannot get my receiver to work with my Media Center 2005 system with the IR
(I see it light up to change the channels and it's placed directly over the
sensor in the receiver but nothing happens when I try changing the channels,
etc.).
PLEASE HELP US HERE>
Thanks!

MCE didn't recognize mine either but when I went through the setup wizard, an
option for learning the codes one-by-one was available. It will ask you to
press and hold the "1" twice then the "2" twice and so on. IT'S VITALLY
IMPORTANT THAT YOUR SAT REMOTE IS NEARLY - IF NOT AGAINST - THE MCE IR
DONGLE! If you don't get the Sat Remote right against it while it's
"learning" the codes one-by-one, it won't work. Use the 3 Digit with an enter
option (although you don't need to use enter on the Sat remote, it works
faster if you use it in MCE) and everything should work fine.
Bed time - I'll check back later to see if you have questions...

BTW - make sure your Sat remote is not in RF mode! See your owner's manual to
make certain it's in IR mode! (Oops - I forgot to mention that)...

Tingbro, did this work for you? I have the same exact problem. I can't find
my manual for the remote so I'm hoping you did this, it worked, and you can
tell me how to set the mode on the D11 remote. :-)
Thanks in advance!
