Dual Tuners
Posted by Lagoon Blue on October 26th, 2005

Hi,
I have been using MCE 2005 successfully with a Hauppauge PVR 150 TV card
connected to an NTL set top box via a composite video port.

I would now like to add a 2nd TV card to enalbe viewing of Digital TV too.
I have bought a Digital Nova-T pci card but I am having a little touble
setting it up!

Can someone please clarify if MCE will work with these two different TV cards?
Thank you.

Sorry, partly because of the requirement to have a single Electronic Programme
Guide it's an either/or thing. You cannot use both tuners together.

Thanks for your reply, altough its a shame it cannot cope with the two
different cards. This would have been a good combined solution.

I believe that the answer given was incorrect. You can have more than
one tuner card -- I believe, in fact, that you can have up to 3 tuners
(two analog (NTSC) and one digital (ATSC) tuner). But you can only have
one program guide, so they have to see the same channel setup.

The answer I gave was correct. It is not possible to use an analogue TV capture
card & digital DVB-T card at the same time.

The OP specified that he wanted to use a digital Hauppauge Nova-T DVB-T card
with an analogue Hauppauge WinTV PVR150. As he wants to use DVB-T he is
obviously not in the US & thus able to NTSC or ATSC tuners. Incidentally 2 NTSC
& 2 ATSC tuners are now supported by MCE2005 with Rollup 2.
