This is repeteable even after a complete reinstall from clean original
manufactures dvd restore discs it re-occurs Have scanned with norton,

Not a solution, just an FYI.

I use (as do many I'm sure) all the programs you mentioned on my MCE 2005
machine with no problems. No problems with desktop shortcuts either.

Offered as an "it's not an MCE thing" response.
