Folders open in "search" and I can't change them to "open"
Posted by Richard on October 8th, 2005

When double clicked my folder used to open - they now search. I've attempted
to change this setting in "folders" in "control panel"

Try this:

1.Start Registry Editor. (start -> Run... -> regedit)

2.Locate the Default value under the following key in the registry:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell

3.Click Modify on the Edit menu.

4.In the File data box, type:
none

5.Click OK.

6.Quit Registry Editor.

Or if manually editing the registry isn't to your liking, See www.dougknox.com, Win XP Fixes, Search/Command Prompt Opens When Double Clicking a Folder.
