Full Backup?
Posted by WCM on December 27th, 2007

Windows XP:

Is there a way to do a 100% full backup (all software + all data) on Win-XP
so that if my hard drive fails and its data is unrecoverable, I can install
the backup (which will re-install all the software as well as data files)?

Thanks in advance ...

Bill

Yes. Image the HD. I prefer Casper XP, but I'm sure others have their
preferences too

Your question is not related to Media Center, in the future please post to a
group relevant to your question.
The most common way to do it is with an external hard drive and imaging
software such as that from Acronis.

Thank you ... just need to decide on the software. Am looking at both
Casper XP & Acronis (and external drives).

Hi David - thanks for response. Three responses taken together give me a
clear direction.

Regarding 'Media Center', didn't notice that when I clicked on 'Windows XP'
on Microsoft Newsgroups Page, it defaulted to 'Media Center'. Thought I was
in 'General Section'.
