I also would like to know the answer to that question, It's hard to make out
what some of this software will do. Are you talking about the TV programs
recorded by the Media center.

Yes, if you edit out comercials you can more showtime on a dvd. I know theirs

The one _I_ consider the best is Video ReDo Plus, from www.videoredo.com. It
also has a feature to detect and remove commercials that works pretty good
(I have mine detect but not remove, as it occasionally mis-identifies the
transitions).
Of course, there are plenty of others I have no experience with...
