help - DVR-MS playback problem on ATI X700
Posted by perfb@yahoo.com on October 1st, 2005

Acer 4005 laptop with ATI X700 new out of the box would play back the
first minute or so of a DVR-MS video recording in WMP9 then start to
stutter and break up on the video, though audio ok.

Updated WMP online to 10 and retried, still same issue.

Files play OK on other Dell Nvidia laptop and HP desktop

any ideas out there?

It's most likely a problem with the DVD (MPEG2) decoder
that's installed on the Acer. It may not be MCE or
WMP compatible.

You should run the Decoder Checkup Utility on the Acer.

If you want to try a different decoder, here's a list
of some that are known to work.
