- how do you connect audio from comcast digital hd stb to HP dual tu
- Posted by schulterg on December 31st, 2005
On my HP MCE 2005 I have live and recorded video with no sound, connecting
the hp dual tuner to the comcast HD digital receiver with the s video but how
and what do I use to get audio?

Read you Comcast usser's manual and you will find the probably right next to
the S-Video out connection is either a pari of Red and White stereo
conectors or a mini pin audio conenctor. You connect this audio out from
your Comcast box to audio in conenction which is probably right next to the
S-Video in connection on your MCE tuner card. You can get minipin to R&W
connector adapters at any Radio Shack. If you don't have a cable you can of
course also get that at Radio Shack.

You need to connect the audio output from the HD digital receiver (using
RCA cables) into your TV Tuner's audio inputs. Take care to see that you
are not plugging the audio output into your sound card's audio input, as
that would yield bad results.

If you don't connect the audio out from your set top box to your tv tuner
card, your tv recording on MCE will have no audio.

If you do not hook up your audio out from your set top box to the computer,
your recorded tv will have no audio.

From your audio card on your PC just like you would connect PC speakers. If
you need both then use a aplitter so you can got from the lineout or speaker
out to both locations.

You may try to send the Video analog output signal from the cable-box to your
TV Tuner. This way you will get both video and audio into MCE, just like from
an antenna. I don't think S-Video signal quality will be better than this
solution, probably even worse.
