- HP media center only finds two cable tv channels
- Posted by Bruce Anast on February 27th, 2006
This is a topic that I am having an issue with... I have XP Media 2002
installed and when I connect my cable to my HP Dual TV Tuner (AVC 3610),
Media 2002 scans. but finds only 2 channels in black and white. HP sent me
the article below, but I cannot find the eMuzed drivers... Any help would be
appreciated.
HP Media Center Desktop PCs - Media Center Only Finds One or Two Cable TV
Channels
This document pertains to HP Media Center PCs and Microsoft Windows XP,
Media Center Edition.
If the Media Center software only receives one or two TV channels from cable
TV, connect to the Internet and upgrade the eMuzed TV tuner driver by using
Windows Update. The driver name is listed on the Windows Update Web site
under drivers as eMuzed*, Inc. Media Driver Version 1.0.2.46 (or a higher
version number).
Use the HP Support document Updating Drivers and Software with Window Update
for more help and information on how to use Windows Update.

OK... I have tried just about everything... I have installed the drivers
that HP suggested...(eMuzed) HP sent a new Dual TV Tuner... HP Sent me a
new driver disk... Nothing but snow.... I have ruled out other
possibilities... I have connected a VCR, DVD Recorder and a TV, they all are
able to aquire TV channels. When I connect my AVC-3610 HP/Adaptec TV tuner
and scan tv channels.... I get nothing. I have applied Roll-up 2,
re-installed drivers, re-installed the operating system, updated BIOS,
updated video drivers... I have A HP Pavillion ZD8000 and Charter
Communications is my Cable company.
HP is accusing Charter of transmitting on unauthorized/nonstandard
frequencies... I don't think this is possible, how would my TV receive
channels? I am not going thru a STB. I know the cable is good...
I have been to numerous Forums and thier are a number of us HP ZD8000users
with this same issue. I have found at least 4 of us...
Any Help?

Have you tried unscrewing the working cable from your TV and screwing it
into the tuner card? (Just trying to rule out every possible difficulty
with splitters and cables...)

Yes I have... I had the cable company come out this weekend to verify all is
OK with the cable. Everything checked out... I know it has to be some
software issue... But I have reinstalled everything possible.
HP does not return my numerous calls. I have an assigned "Case Manager".
She is worthless... She has worked my case for two weeks now and all she has
done was ship me an identical driver disk that I already had. I call her
daily and she has yet to return my call...
