limited user cannot access hard drive
Posted by e077362 on December 14th, 2005

I installed an internal hard drive and limited-users cannot read/write/delete
to it. Get "access denied" message. Only the administrator has the access.
However, I want to set up the hard drive so the limited-users also have
read/write/delete access. How do I do this? Thanks...

Is this on a Media Center PC, or a different OS? If it's not Media Center,
you may want to search for a more appropriate newsgroup such as
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general.

Try this...

In Windows Explorer, right-click on the drive and select
Properties. Click on the Security tab. Give the group
"Users" the permissions you desire by checking off the
appropriate boxes.

If the "Users" group doesn't exist, click on the Add..
button, and create one.
