I too am having this problem with the "invalid connection data" response from
my xbox while attempting to set up the the media center extender software. I
have tried all of the things listed in this thread with no results. I also
have this error key in my application log from media center extender services
: ERROR: KeyExch RQ 3 - Device {00000000-0000-0000-0200-00125A818067} -
There was an error processing this request. Error code 0x80004005.
I have a xbox 360 Platinum connected by wire to a linksys 100mb switch which
is in turn connected to a actiontec DSL router for internet Access. I also
have a Dell XPS600 running MCE connected to the switch. The intenet
connection works for xbox live, and the LAN connection works as media
connector where I can play music and show pictures between the PC and the
Xbox. However I get nothin but the "invalid connection data" error message
when I try to connect to the MCE PC as a media center extender.
I have removed my firewall and virus protection softwares, enabled and
disable windows firewall, did the regsrv thing, uninstalled and re-installed
the extender software and still no joy! I am running out of ideas?
I will track this thread as well in hopes that we may find a solution.
Please let me know if I can assist or provide any information to help the
cause.
