- Media center "loses" TV tuner on power down.
- Posted by deepbluejh on January 7th, 2008
I'm running a MSI K9VGM-V (Via KT800) motherboard, Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150 TV
tuner, and Vista MCE.
The problem is every time I power the computer off (or there is a power
surge, etc), Media Center "loses" the TV tuner and I am forced to reconfigure
the tuner from within Media Center. Note that the OS does not lose the Tuner
(I am not forced to reinstall the driver, etc), only media center loses the
configuration data for the tuner. Everything works fine so long as the power
is on, or the computer is in "sleep", but as soon as the PC shuts down or
power is cut the problem begins.
What is going on here? This is a very annoying problem as I find myself
reconfiguring my TV tuner card several times a week.

I'm having exactly the same problem and it's driving me insane!
My tuner card is an Asus TV/FM 7131 Hybrid with Vista MCE and I
recieve DVB-T TV channels in the UK. The fact that we have different
tuner cards points to a Media Center problem. Please let me know if
you find a solution to this problem and I'll do the same.

I am having a problem with my computer waking from sleep and "having no tuner
fitted". A restart fixes it. I am about to try this:
