- need another IR receiver for MCE remote
- Posted by marchewd on October 15th, 2005
Is there anyway you can buy just the IR receiver for the MCE remote? I have
three systems that has MCE installed. However, I do not use the remote as I
have another remote that I mapped all the buttons on the MCE remote to. Is
there anyway I can buy just a plain IR reciever without the remote, or use
some other kind of IR receiver to be able to control MCE with a remote?
Thanks,
Dan

I'm pretty sure you need an IR receiver specifically designed
for MCE. I've never seen them sold without a remote, other
than as a replacement part from an OEM web site. But they
typically charge more for that than you'd pay for the whole
setup from newegg.

marchewd,
This is the website I bought my IR Receiver from, when I bought my Media
Center computer at Best Buy it never came with a Remote or IR Receiver, so I
got my Remote from HPshopping.com and the receiver from here...
