Opening 2 websites on IE6
Posted by jdp on May 5th, 2008

How do I open 2 websites on IE6 so that both appear on-screen at the same
time? I have Windows XP Media Center. I am applying for an at-home job that
requires that I know how to do this. Not more than 2 but just 2 websites.

You need to open 2 websites in 2 IE windows and resize them (say half size)
and place them on either side of the screen.

Or use dual monitors.

Can use IE7 with tabbed browsing and you can use "Quick Tabs" which shows
all open tabs...

Not the answer I was hoping for. Specifically, how do I open 2 websites on
IE6 so that they both appear on-screen at the same time? Specifically how do
I type in the address bar 2 different URL's? I'm not using using IE7 I'm
using IE6. I'm not changing to IE7 because of the glitches that it creates
when changing. I am not using 2 monitors, only one. This is for an at-home
job that I'm applying for that I need to know this trick.

You do exactly as Kumaran said
To open the second window you just open a second copy of IE6 by double
clicking its icon or by whatever means you normally start IE6.

A single instance of IE6 cannot open or display 2 different web pages at
once, that's why tabbed browsing (IE7) was invented.

On 5/04/2008, jdp posted this:
I wonder if you will be biting off more than you can chew, based on
your indication of limited knowledge.

1. You rejected two good answers, one from Kumaran and one that you
already knew (IE7).

2. You posted in a newsgroup totally unrelated to your issue.

Is there a quick key available, or another faster way to resize the 2 IE
windows than the manual way you described?

After you have opened two IE windows.
Right click the task bar choose Tile Windows (Horiz or Vert).

To go back to normal right click taskbar, Cascade windows.
