- Playing X Box through Media Center
- Posted by dice5k on December 6th, 2005
I have just purchased the original X Box and would like to play it through my
PC. I have Windows Media Center and my PC has A/V inputs in the back of the
machine as well as the front (it is a Sony Vaio). I don't know how to switch
the input on my monitor so that I can see the X Box. Any help???

You won't be able to play through the Media Center app, as all video is
buffered by ~ 2 seconds..
If sony has an application that allows you to use the a/v inputs through
another program, that might work. You'll need to see if they do. It's not
something that all Media Center pcs can do.
Hope this helps.

I have found that a tv tuner built for Windows and not the MCE environment
will work great. Use a Monster cable for the xbox that has svideo out and run
it through the svideo in on the tuner. Set the input in the program to svideo
and voila, you have vid from ur xbox on your PC screen. This monster cable
also has digital fiber audio support if your sound card supports it.

Sounds easy enough, but not real sure I know exactly what to do here. What
(and is this like a splitter that you can get at Radioshack?) and where would
I get a TV tuner? I currently have a coxial jack a A/V input (2 of those) and
a on my PC. When you say 'set the input in the program to svideo' I dont
know how to do that. That was my issue to start, I had the A/V inputs plugged
in, but could not switch the inputs to get the X Box to appear on my monitor.
From what it sounds like......I need to purchase a TV tuner and a svideo
cable for the x Box?
Thanks for your help in advance.
