- poor video quality

when I connected the satellite dish output (coax cable) to the computer -
there is noticeable 'distortion' - waves going across the screen - any reason
for this?
I have my satellite box next to the TV in another room - the output goes
thru a splitter to TV and to PC - I even tried eliminating the splitter and
went directly to the PC out of the satellite box-same thing
is this at all common / any remedies?

How long is this coax cable you are using.... and exactly what kind of cable
is it? RG5 orRG6? Ensure it is clear of all other cables.

25 foot
RG-6S/QS 75 OHM - Quad-shielded - that's from the receiver to the PC
not sure about dish to receiver - but I haven't noticed any problem on my TV

If possible you would be much better off using S-Video out of your satellite
box to both your TV and to your PC since S-Video quality is much better than
coax quality since the S-Video signal does not have to be converted back
into RF and sent out over Channel 3 or 4.

It's either RG6 or RG59 (there's also RG7 and RG11 but they aren't typically
used inside the house).
